The British authorities convicted a man for plotting to carry out a knife attack in London. The suspect was reportedly inspired by the terrorist group of ISIS.
Nadir Syed, 22, from Southall, west London, has been arrested subsequent to buying a chef’s knife days before Remembrance Sunday in November of 2014.
Woolwich Crown Court convicted Syed after a hearing on how the radicalized man planned to carry out a Lee Rigby-style attack, local media reported on Monday.
During the hearing, the court was also informed about how Syed had been inspired by the spokesman of ISIS Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, who had earlier urged jihadists to carry out attacks on Western targets.
Al-Adnani is believed to have inspired the Paris attacks, that caused the death of 130 people and the injury of more than 300 others in France capital.
“The jury returned a majority verdict on Syed after more than 50 hours’ deliberation, but was unable to reach verdicts on Haseeb Hamayoon, 28, and Yousaf Syed, 20. A retrial has been ordered.”
